Weapon sockets
The screen where a Kingfish Katana or Haddock Howitzer takes its crystal and the parts that tune it.
Opening it#
With a
Kingfish Katana or
Haddock Howitzer in your main hand, press Shift + right-click.
The control is the keybinding Open weapon sockets in Controls, and you can rebind it. It only takes effect when you hold one of the
two weapons, so it doesn't clash with anything else you bind to Shift + right-click. A weapon's tooltip reminds you of the key.
The screen#
A row of tabs sits above the panel, one per socket, each drawn with an icon. The selected tab shows one socket with a few words on what its contents give, and your inventory stays visible below so you can drag parts straight in. Shift-click a part in your inventory and it goes to the socket it belongs in, even if that tab isn't open. A "?" badge explains how the weapon works.
What goes where#
| Weapon | Tab | Takes | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kingfish Katana | Crystal | An elemental crystal: | Sets the element. Empty is water. |
| Kit | A tier upgrade kit | Raises attack damage and strengthens the element. | |
| Style | An | Replaces the lunge with a ranged elemental attack. Empty keeps the lunge. | |
| Haddock Howitzer | Crystal | An elemental crystal | Sets the element of each shot's splash. Empty is plain water. |
| Brake | A muzzle brake | Adds damage to every shot and gives a left click attack. | |
| Rail Scales | Rail Scales | Replace charged shots with rapid fire. |
Each slot only accepts its own kind of part. Metal crystals don't fit the Crystal socket; they are ingredients for brakes and Rail Scales. The screen describes what each part adds in a few words and leaves the exact figures for you to find.
Good to know#
- Parts come back out the same way you put them in; nothing is used up.
- Changing one socket doesn't disturb the others, and the weapon keeps its enchantments and damage.
- The katana's tier kit goes in its Kit socket, not on a machine. Any kit fits.
