Controls and keybinds
The one keybind Enthalpy adds and every special thing a right-click, a sneak-click or a held button does with its blocks and items.
Enthalpy adds a single key to the controls screen. Everything else is ordinary clicking: use, sneak-use and holding the use button on the right items and blocks. This page lists them all so you can find the one you forgot.
The keybind#
| Key | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Open weapon sockets | Shift + right-click | Opens the sockets of the weapon in your main hand: crystal, kit and style on the |
It is listed under Enthalpy in the controls screen, and you can rebind it to any key or mouse button. It only works with a katana or a howitzer in your main hand, so Shift + right-click does what it always does with anything else in your hand. With the howitzer it opens the sockets instead of powering up a shot, so stand up to fire.
Interactions#
Use is right-click, or your use button. Sneak-use is use while holding sneak.
Machines#
| Do this | On this | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Use, empty hand | Any machine or engine | Opens its screen. |
| Use with a bucket or other fluid container | A machine with a tank | Fills or empties the tank, where that tank allows it. Fuel tanks and water tanks only fill; they never give the fluid back. |
| Use with the | A machine or engine | Turns it. See Tools. |
| Sneak-use with a wrench | A machine, engine or Tank Hatch | Picks it up, keeping its upgrades, energy and settings. |
| Use with a wrench | A face of a formed Ecotone | Cycles that face's port: Disabled, Input, Output, Input & Output. |
| Use with a tier kit | A machine that takes kits | Fits the kit. Any kit already there is handed back; the same kit again is refused. |
| Use with a module | A machine | Drops the module into the first free slot. A message says if there is no room. |
| Use with a | The air, or a block that is not a machine | Opens the module's filter: nine slots, a whitelist or blacklist and an Overflow or Always mode. |
| Click a face in the side panel | A machine's screen | Cycles that face's mode. Right-click cycles back. |
Tanks and water#
| Do this | On this | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Use with glowstone dust | A formed Tank Hatch or any pane of its glass; a Spawning Basin | Puts the dust in and lights the tank. One dust per tank. |
| Sneak-use, empty hand | A lit tank or basin | Takes the glowstone dust back out. |
| Use, empty hand | A Tank Hatch or one of its panes | Opens the hatch's screen. |
| Use with a water bucket or pipe | A Salt Pan | Fills it with water. It starts boiling when it is full and has heat underneath. |
| Use, empty hand | A Salt Pan with a finished salt block | Takes the salt block into your inventory. |
Weapons and the satchel#
| Do this | With this | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Hold use, then release | Powers up a shot while held and fires on release. Letting go early fires a quick shot; the longer you hold, the harder it hits. Without charge or fish it misfires with a message. | |
| Hold use | A howitzer with Rail Scales | Fires a steady stream of fish for as long as you hold. |
| Left click, or hold it | A howitzer with a muzzle brake | Fires the brake's ranged attack instead of swinging or mining, repeating while held. |
| Hold use, then release | Draws the blade, then lunges forward on release. A short tap does nothing; a full draw lunges the furthest. | |
| Use | A katana with an Extendable Blade | Extends the ranged elemental blade at once, in place of the lunge. |
| Left click | A katana | A normal sword swing. |
| Use | Opens the satchel. | |
| Right-click the satchel in your inventory while holding fish on your cursor | The satchel | Slips the fish in, up to its capacity. Only ammo fish go in. |
| Shift-click a crystal, brake, Rail Scales or kit | A weapon's socket screen | Sends it to the socket that matches. |
The howitzer, katana and satchel pages say what each of these does in play.
Good to know#
- A machine opens its screen only on an empty-handed click, or with an item that does nothing else on it. Holding a wrench, kit or module always does that item's job first.
- A formed Ecotone never rotates: a plain click with a wrench sets a port instead.
