Growing crystals

Before you start#

You need molten salt; see Making salt and molten salt. Then put a block in the Accretor's input and power it. The crystal grows on top where you can watch it, and comes out of its output faces.

First: the elements#

A new Kingfish Katana already comes with a Hydric Crystal, and you can also craft one. Galvanic (from a copper block) and Pyric (from a magma block) are the ones to grow first. Each is a one-off: it stays in the weapon's socket. Elements compares them.

Next: iron#

The Iron Crystal makes the howitzer's Iron Rail Scales and the katana's Extendable Blade, and it's the first step of the metal line.

Later: netherite and beyond#

A Netherite Crystal takes a lot of salt and power, and upgrades the muzzle brake and Rail Scales to netherite. With Allthemodium or Ender IO in your pack, their metals continue the line; see Crystals.

Pitfalls#

• Short of salt, the Accretor waits and keeps its progress; only taking the block out resets it.
• Its tank only fills, so a wrong fluid can't get in, and it never gives salt back.
