auto-output
When on, a machine pushes its products into whatever is next to its output faces, with no pipe needed.
catalyst
An item that lets a pair of fish mutate into a new species in the Spawning Basin. It is used up when a mutation succeeds.
element
The kind of energy a weapon's crystal gives its attacks: water (Hydric), lightning (Galvanic) or flame (Pyric). With no crystal, attacks are water.
FE
Forge Energy, the power unit machines use. FE/t is FE per tick; a second is 20 ticks.
Galvanic
The lightning element. Its crystal makes attacks arc to nearby mobs.
Hydric
The water element. Its crystal makes attacks slow and briefly root what they hit.
lane
One processing track inside a machine. Every processing machine starts with one lane; Manifold modules open more, so it works on several items at once.
mB
Millibuckets. A bucket of fluid is 1,000 mB.
module
A small upgrade that goes in a machine's module slots, such as Celerity for speed or Economizer for efficiency.
multiblock
A machine built from several blocks that work as one, like the Ecotone.
mutation
A chance, each time a pair breeds in the Spawning Basin with the right catalyst, of a new species instead of a copy.
nutrients
The Ecotone's balance between fish and crops. More fish than crops speeds the crops and slows breeding; more crops than fish does the reverse.
port
A face of a formed Ecotone set to let items, water and power in or out. Set ports with a wrench.
Prized
A rare, shimmering fish. Prized parents raise an Ecotone row's yields, and a Prized fish grinds into three times the resource.
Pyric
The flame element. Its crystal sets what it hits alight and adds burning bursts.
resource fish
A bred fish that yields a material, such as iron nuggets or redstone, when it breeds in an Ecotone.
side configuration
Choosing, face by face, whether a machine takes things in, pushes things out, does both, or neither.
socket
A slot on a weapon for a crystal, a tier kit, a muzzle brake, Rail Scales or a style. Open them with Shift + right-click.
tick
The game's clock step. There are 20 ticks in a second.
tier kit
An upgrade that raises a machine's tier: Tempered, Fortified, Luminous, then Harmonic. Each tier works faster and opens more module slots.
