Building an aquarium
Show off what you've bred: a lit, planted aquarium with the Tank Hatch.
Build the tank#
Crafting Table
Any glass works, and they can be mixed: plain, any stained glass, and most modded glass, including Chipped's connected glass, which joins up across the tank. Place the hatch last, from outside, so it faces you. When the box is complete the glass becomes a framed tank of water with a sandy floor.
Stock it#
Open the hatch and put fish in. Every species is drawn as itself, swimming and turning, and Prized fish shimmer. Up to 32 swim at once (2 per glass block); with more, they take turns. A hopper can top it up.
Finish it#
- Kelp: switch it on in the hatch's screen and kelp grows from the floor, swaying.
- Light: use glowstone dust on the hatch or any pane; the whole tank lights up. Sneak-use with an empty hand takes it back.
- Colour: stained glass tints the view; a few panes of one colour make a feature wall.
Pitfalls#
- Breaking any pane, or the hatch, turns the tank back into glass; the hatch drops its fish.
- Glass that's part of an Ecotone or a Spawning Basin can't be part of an aquarium too.
