Salt, meal and other items
Salt and salt blocks, Fish Meal, Glycerin, the oil, latex and creosote globs, sawdust and the metal dusts: how each is made and what it is for.
These are the small materials that connect Enthalpy's machines: the salt that becomes crystals, the meal that feeds fish, the globs that become fluids and the dusts that burn or smelt. Each section says how you get the item and where it goes next. The item and block index lists every item in the mod.

Salt Block#
The first step of the salt chain. A
Salt Block is a solid block you mine, and it drops itself.
- Made: boiled out of a bucket of water in a Salt Pan over lava, a magma block or a lit campfire, with no power. Or craft four
Salt in a square. - Used for: melting in a Vortex Separator into 1,000 mB of molten salt; as an ingredient of the Brine Accretor; or ground into four Salt.

Salt#
The dust form of salt, for when you want a smaller measure. Four
Salt make a block and a block makes four back, so nothing is lost either way.
- Made: a Salt Block crafted on its own gives four, or grind one in a Triturator.
- Used for: melting in a Vortex Separator into 250 mB of molten salt, which is a quarter of a block's worth for a quarter of the lava.
Shapeless
4Where the same salt comes from other mods, it works the same: both items use shared tags, so another mod's salt melts too.
Fish Meal#
The mod's all-round fish product.
Fish Meal feeds fish, speeds up farms and doubles as fertiliser, so a fish farm makes more of itself.
- Made: grind fish in a Triturator (a plain cod gives two), or separate fish in a Vortex Separator for a 50% chance alongside the oil.
- Feed: the Ecotone's meal slot. Each meal feeds 1.5 breedings, and while fed, every resource yield has a 50% chance of doubling. See the Ecotone.
- Food: the Spawning Basin accepts it as fish food.
- Catalyst: the Reaction Vat needs one for each batch of biodiesel.
- Fertiliser: it works as bone meal on crops, and carries the shared fertiliser tag.
- Crafting: four of them and a dried kelp block make a Kelp Module.
Glycerin#
Glycerin is what the Reaction Vat leaves behind when it makes biodiesel: a 25% chance per batch.
- Made: as a byproduct only. There is no recipe for it.
- Used for: two Glycerin craft into one gunpowder, so a biodiesel line also feeds a gunpowder supply. It carries the shared gunpowder tag, so other recipes that want gunpowder take it directly.

The globs#
A glob is a fish product: a lump of oil, latex or creosote that a fish makes. You do not burn or place them. You put them in the Vortex Separator and they melt into the fluid. Each glob gives 100 mB.
Oil Glob#
- Made:
Slick Eel yield it when breeding in an Ecotone (a 50% chance of one on a breeding that makes no copy), and grinding a Slick Eel in a Triturator gives two. - Used for: Crude Oil, the start of the gasoline chain.
Latex Glob#
- Made:
Latex Ling yield it. You make one by soaking a cod in latex. Needs Industrial Foregoing, whose latex it melts into. - Used for: latex from a fish farm, for any recipe in your pack that wants it.
Creosote Glob#
- Made:
Creosote Cod yield it. You make one by soaking a cod in creosote. Needs Immersive Engineering, whose creosote it melts into. - Used for: creosote from a fish farm. The Ignition Engine also burns it, as a low-value fuel.
Sawdust#
The Kerf Mill's byproduct.
Sawdust is worth 3,750 FE in a
Caloric Engine, so a sawing line can pay for itself.
- Made: sawing any log in a Kerf Mill always gives some. Planks and sticks give it sometimes.
- Used for: fuel. It carries the shared wood-dust tag, so other mods' recipes for wood dust take it too.
Copper, Iron and Gold Dust#
The metal dusts the Triturator makes from raw metal:
Copper Dust,
Iron Dust and
Gold Dust.
Grinding one raw metal gives two dusts.
- Made: in a Triturator. If another mod in your pack already makes a dust of the same metal, the machine produces that mod's dust instead; see Preferred outputs.
- Used for: smelting or blasting into ingots, and as an alternative to ingots in the Eddy Smelter's alloys.
