Machines and power#
Why is my machine stuck on Charging?#
It cannot pay for the next moment of work. It waits until its buffer holds a couple of seconds of full-speed running, then goes again, so a weak supply makes it work in bursts. Add power or draw less: fewer Celerity modules or lanes, or more Economizers. See When power runs short.
Why did my Ecotone stop at night?#
It needs a Lumen Module to work after dark. One module keeps it running through the night, at double the FE; without it the Ecotone waits for morning. See the Lumen Module.
My Ecotone takes nothing from my pipes or cables. Why?#
Every port on a new Ecotone starts disabled. Right-click a face of its structure with the Calibration Tablet to cycle it to Input, Output or both. Set one port for water and power and one for output to start. See Ports.
Where did my Ecotone's extra yields go?#
A full resource output does not pause the Ecotone: yields that do not fit are lost. That is deliberate. Pipe the outputs away with auto-output on, or fit a Void Module to throw away what you do not want. See Ecotone.
How do I turn or pick up a machine?#
Right-click it with a 
Calibration Tablet to turn it, or sneak and right-click to pick it up. It keeps its tier, upgrades, energy and settings. See Tools.
Can I use other mods' pipes, cables and wrenches?#
Yes. Machines take and give items, fluids and FE through the standard connections, so any mod's pipes and cables work; set which faces connect in side configuration. Wrenches from other mods turn, pick up and set ports just like the tablet. See Compatibility.
Fish#
Where do I get a catalyst?#
A catalyst is an ordinary item you put in the Spawning Basin so a pair of fish can mutate; each new species has its own, such as an iron nugget for a Ferric Cod. It is used up only when a mutation succeeds. Each species' page names its catalyst, and the breeding explorer shows the whole tree.
How do I get diamonds from fish?#
Breed a 
Diamond Ray from a Gilded Koi and an Amethyst Angler, with a block of diamond as the catalyst. The mutation has a 1% chance per breeding. Then farm it in an Ecotone, or grind it in a Triturator for a diamond each. See Breeding and mutation.
Why are some fish missing from my game?#
A fish that yields a material your pack does not have is hidden rather than broken, along with its recipes. Install a mod that adds that material and the fish appears. See Compatibility and Species.
What does Prized mean?#
A Prized fish is a rare, shimmering version of a bred fish. As an Ecotone parent it raises that row's yields, and ground in a Triturator it gives triple its resource. It is a one-in-100 chance on any bred fish, and its young are ordinary. See Prized fish.
How do I light a fish tank?#
Use glowstone dust on a formed Tank Hatch, any pane of its glass, or a Spawning Basin. Sneak and use it with an empty hand to take the dust back. See Tank Hatch.
Fluids and materials#
How do I make gasoline?#
Switch a Vortex Separator to fluid mode and give it crude oil and lava. Crude oil comes from Oil Globs, which Slick Eel yield. Gasoline is worth four times crude oil in an Ignition Engine. See Gasoline and Fuel chains.
What can the Ignition Engine burn?#
Any fluid carrying one of the fuel tags it knows, from Enthalpy or from another mod. Enthalpy's own are crude oil, vegetable oil, fish oil, ethanol, biodiesel and gasoline. See Fuel tables.
How do I get salt, and what is it for?#
Boil a bucket of water in a Salt Pan over lava, a magma block or a lit campfire to get a salt block, then melt it in a Vortex Separator. Molten salt grows every crystal in the Brine Accretor. See Salt Block and Making salt and molten salt.
Weapons#
How do I open the weapon sockets?#
Hold the katana or howitzer in your main hand and press Shift + right-click. The key is called Open weapon sockets in the controls screen, and you can rebind it. See Controls and keybinds.
Where do I get a Hydric Crystal?#
A new katana comes with one already socketed. You can also craft one from four prismarine crystals, a water bucket and a raw fish, or grow one from Blue Ice in the Brine Accretor. See Crystals.
