The Calibration Tablet turns, picks up and wires your machines, and other mods' wrenches do the same.
Enthalpy has one hand tool, the
Calibration Tablet. Right-click a machine with it to turn it, sneak and
right-click to pick it up, and on an Ecotone use it to set the ports. It is the first thing to make once you have a machine, because
every machine you place faces the way you were standing, not the way your pipes run.
Making it#
Crafting Table

What it does#
| Use it on | Right-click | Sneak and right-click |
|---|---|---|
| A machine | Turns it a quarter-turn, clockwise seen from above | Picks it up |
| An engine | Turns it through all six directions, up and down included, so you can point its power face anywhere | Picks it up |
| A formed Ecotone | Cycles the port on the face you clicked: Disabled, Input, Output, Input & Output | Picks it up |
| A Tank Hatch | Turns it, until its tank has formed | Picks it up, formed or not |
Turning#
A machine's faces are named from its own point of view, so when you turn it, its side configuration turns with it. A line you have set up keeps working whichever way the machine points. Each click is a step and you hear a soft click; keep clicking until the front faces where you want.
A formed Tank Hatch does not turn, because turned it would no longer face out of its tank. Break or open the tank first.
Picking up#
Sneak and right-click picks a machine up without breaking it down. It keeps its tier, upgrades, stored energy and settings when you place it again. The items in its slots drop on the ground.
Ecotone ports#
The Ecotone has no side panel. Its outer faces are ports, and the tablet sets them: a plain right-click on a face cycles its mode, and a message names the new mode. A face that is not on the outside of the structure is not a port, and the message says so. Because a plain right-click sets a port, the Ecotone never rotates once built. To pick up an Ecotone controller, sneak first.
Other mods' wrenches#
The tablet is one of a group of tools Enthalpy treats the same way. Any item tagged as a wrench by another mod, using the shared wrench tags, does exactly what the tablet does on Enthalpy's blocks: it turns, picks up and sets ports. Enthalpy handles the click before the other tool's own behaviour runs. On other mods' blocks, the other mod's wrench behaves as it normally does.
The tablet also carries the shared wrench tag itself, so other mods' machines treat it as a wrench in return.
Good to know#
- The tablet only acts on Enthalpy's blocks. On anything else it does nothing.
- Using it on a machine never opens that machine's screen. Click with an empty hand for that.
- The Salt Pan ignores the tablet: it has no front to turn, and you break it by hand.
For pack makers: which items count as wrenches
Items in enthalpy:wrenches count: the tablet, anything in c:tools/wrench and anything in c:wrenches. Add your pack's wrench to either shared tag to make it work.
