What it does#

The Brine Accretor grows a crystal out of one block and some molten salt. Put the block in, keep the salt tank topped up, and a crystal builds on top of the machine, spinning in a ring of salt and the block's element, until it bursts out finished.

The crystals are what the weapons run on. An elemental crystal sockets into the Kingfish Katana or the Haddock Howitzer and changes what its hits do; Elements covers the effects. Metal crystals are crafting parts for the weapons' other sockets.

A Galvanic Crystal, for example, needs one block of copper and 1,000 mB of molten salt. At the default speed that is 20 s and 40,000 FE.

Using it#

Put a block in the left slot and feed molten salt into the tank. The machine starts on its own once it has both, and the finished crystal appears in the right slot. Click the tabs and the coloured faces below; they behave like the real screen.

  • Infuses a block with molten salt into a crystal, grown on top
  • A copper block grows a Galvanic Crystal, for lightning
  • A magma block grows a Pyric Crystal, for flame
  • Blue Ice grows a Hydric Crystal, for water; Frostfin breed the ice for it
  • Elemental crystals socket into the Kingfish Katana or Haddock Howitzer
  • Melt salt for it in a Vortex Separator; pipe it in, or set the two side by side with auto-output on
  • Takes no kits or modules
  • A block of iron, netherite, or Allthemodium's metals grows a crystal of that metal
  • It drinks the salt as it works, so a crystal can need more than the tank holds; short of salt, it waits

  1. 1
The machine's own store of power. Growing a crystal spends FE every tick for as long as it runs.
  2. 2
Running while a crystal grows. Idle with no block, no matching recipe or no salt; Disabled when redstone has switched it off.
  3. 3
The FE it is spending each tick.
  4. 4
The block to grow from: copper, a magma block, Blue Ice or one of the metal blocks.
  5. 5
How far the crystal has grown. If the salt runs short it stops where it is and carries on when more arrives.
  6. 6
The finished crystal. If this is full, the next one waits.
  7. 7
The molten salt tank. It fills from any input face and never gives the salt back.
  8. 8
Every face starts as both input and output.

Crystals#

Each crystal has its own block and its own price in salt and FE. Salt is drunk as the crystal grows, in step with the power, so a big crystal can take more salt than the tank holds; the machine waits for more and keeps its progress. Taking the block out resets it.

Elemental crystals#

These are cheap, one-off unlocks for a weapon's element.

Galvanic is lightning, Pyric is flame and Hydric is water. Blue Ice is rare to find, so Frostfin breed the ice for it.

Metal crystals#

A metal crystal grows from a block of its metal and costs much more, so these are the slow climb. They are crafting parts: the Iron Crystal goes into the Extendable Blade style and the Iron Rail Scales, and the Netherite Crystal into the Netherite muzzle brake and Rail Scales.

With Ender IO installed, Conductive Iron, Energetic Alloy and Vibrant Alloy blocks grow the matching crystals for the alloy Rail Scales. With Allthemodium installed, its three metals grow crystals too, each costlier than the last. Crystals lists every one.

Salt supply#

Molten salt comes from the Vortex Separator, which melts Salt Block over lava. Pipe it across, or set the two machines side by side with auto-output on and the Vortex Separator pushes the salt straight in. The Salt Pan makes the blocks, and Making salt and molten salt walks through the whole chain.

Automation#

Every face takes and gives, with auto-input and auto-output off:

Every face Input & Output (takes blocks and salt, gives crystals). Auto-input off, Auto-output off.

Blocks go in by hopper or pipe, salt by pipe, and the crystal comes out of an output face (turn on auto-output to push it into a chest). The tank only accepts salt, and nothing can pull it back out. Side configuration explains faces, modes and redstone control for every machine.

Upgrades#

It takes no tier kits or modules.

Its speed comes only from the power setting, so you can't make a single crystal faster in game; run several Brine Accretors side by side instead.

Good to know#

  • The machine only accepts a block that makes a crystal, and it refuses water, dirt and the like.
  • Each crystal uses up its block and its salt; fish are not involved.
  • A crystal is a one-off for most players: you need one per element you want to socket, not a stream of them.
  • Weapon figures here are left to the weapon pages. Packs often retune them.
