Making salt and molten salt
Boil water into salt with no power, then melt it into the molten salt that grows crystals.
1. Boil salt#
Crafting Table

Put the pan on a heat source, fill it with a bucket of water, and wait. Over lava it boils in 5 s, over a magma block in 10 s, over a lit campfire in 15 s. Take the block out and it's ready for the next bucket.
To run it hands-free, pipe water in (an Aquifer beside it works) and pull the salt out from the side with a pipe, since the heat source sits below. A row of pans over a lava pool makes salt steadily with no power at all.
2. Melt it#
A Vortex Separator melts salt in its normal item mode, taking a little lava from its lava tank:

100 mB
Vortex Separator
25 mBPut the Separator beside the Brine Accretor with auto-output on, and the molten salt flows straight into the Accretor's tank.
3. How much you need#
An elemental crystal (Hydric, Galvanic or Pyric) drinks 1,000 mB, one salt block. An Iron Crystal needs 8 blocks' worth, and a Netherite Crystal 64, so for the bigger crystals a few pans pay for themselves.
Pitfalls#
- Flowing lava doesn't heat a pan, and neither does an unlit campfire.
- A pan takes no more water until you take its salt out.
- Molten salt only travels by pipe or straight from machine to machine; there's no bucket of it.
